All About Me!

My name is Sydney Harper, and I'm a cooking enthusiast! I'm sixteen years old and I've been cooking for...about 12 years, I think. 3 things about myself? I'm a Christian, a musician, and....a cook!!

Why do I cook? I cook because my beautiful mother taught me how and I think I just sort of clicked with it. She now requires me and my sister to do the cooking now, but it's not a chore, it's a privilege.

Where does my love of cooking come from? A lot of those gifted people out there who love to cook are also foodaholics. I can't claim to be one of those. I think that the reason I love to cook is because I love art, and I believe that good food is a form of art.

What kind of food do I cook? There are a lot of cooking styles that I'm familiar with: comfort food, gourmet food, and, of course, ethnic food of all varieties. I like to think that I am a mix of all these.

Why is this blog called Ask Tasha? That's a funny story. My sister decided that I had a cooking muse that I consulted with every time I cooked. And she was named Tasha. And so this blog is about me and Tasha and the kitchen stories we share.

When I'm not cooking, I really enjoy reading. (No, really). If I had to pick a favorite genre, I would say science fiction/fantasy. I also love music. I'm a pianist, and I've played mostly in the classical genre, but I'm branching out.

Here are the people that I love cooking for!

My mother.

An amazing person, like all mothers are, and the person that taught me how to cook. She's rarely in the kitchen anymore, but when she does return it's always a treat.

My daddy!

I love cooking for my father, because he'll eat anything! Really, he will. He enjoys almost everything (especially fried chicken and other comfort food). It's very encouraging.

My big sister Lana (She would like you to know it's pronounced LAH-na).

My best friend! Also my toughest critic. This girl loves to eat though. When she loves a meal, it's a keeper.

Everything that I bring to you here on this blog will have passed by these three and have been approved.

Our Christmas Dinner

I'm not sure if this blog will be strictly about food, or if I'll talk about my family a bit, but so many of the things that I cook are related to them so you'll probably be seeing them again.

I hope you enjoy Tasha's and my favorite recipes!
